PHILMSTQ Celebrates 19th Anniversary
PhilMSTQ, Inc. celebrated its 19th anniversary at St. Giles Hotel in Makati City. The celebration brought together board members, staff, and partners to commemorate nearly two decades of advancing proficiency testing and quality standards in the Philippines.

PhilMSTQ Signed Commitment with MMIEERDC
Dr. Nuna Almanzor, PhilMSTQ, Inc. President, together with the heads of 24 other organizations in the National Capital Region signed Letter of Commitment with the Metropolitan Manila, Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development Consortium (MMIEERDC). The signing took place at the Bayview Hotel in Manila during the Consortium's 1st General Assembly on July 29, 2025. MMIEERDC is a Research and Development Consortium established in 2006 to be a network of Science and Technology experts, advisers and practitioners in the field of industry, energy and emerging technology. The Consortium aims to make significant contributions through science and technology solutions and services to the pressing problems in the National Capital Region through research, development and innovation. The Philippine Metrology, Standards, Testing and Quality (PhilMSTQ) Inc. an association composed of professionals from the fields of engineering, chemistry, aviation and allied fields joined the MMIEERDC and made a commitment to support the vision, mission and objectives of the Consortium to enhance research and development, advance technology transfer, share resources and build a community of practitioners in industry, energy and emerging technology to address the needs of the National Capital Region.




PHILMSTQ Joined Congress Hearing on Metrology in Kalibo, Aklan
Metrology Awareness Seminar and Congressional Committee Hearing and Engagement in Kalibo, Aklan last 21-22 March 2024, a 2-day event was held at Aklan State University (ASU) Kalibo Campus for the Metrology Public Awareness and Consultation Seminar organized by DOST-ITDI in collaboration with PSTO – Aklan, and the Congressional Meeting of the House Committee on Science and Technology (COST) headed by Chairman Carlito Marquez. Ms. Cirila S. Botor and Ms. Jo Barahan represented PHILMSTQ, Inc. in the event. On the 1st day, ARD-TO Dr. Naomi Cossette Luis of DOST Region 6 welcomed various stakeholders, including experts, local government units, and private and industry partners in the country. Dr. Annabelle V. Briones, DOST-Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) Director, acknowledged participants and outlined the expectations. The event was also graced by Aklan 1st District Representative Hon. Carlito S. Marquez, with his Chief of Staff Mr. Jess Marquez, and committee member, Hon. Raul Angelo Bongalon. A series of presentations were given by science research specialists of the National Metrology Laboratory (NML) and experts from private sectors, enabling local citizens to be aware of metrology. These presentations also provided updates on the status of the national measurement system, emphasizing the need for modernized metrology law to effectively address the challenges and opportunities arising from technological advancements, globalization, and evolving industry standards. Furthermore, NML received support from Southern Metrology Calibration Services, Inc., through their presentations and demonstrations showing their commitment to promoting excellence in measurement practices and fostering collaboration among stakeholders. Following the presentations, an open forum drew everyone in and fostered understanding of the subject. Committee Secretary Donald Caballero also presented a Manifestation of Support, further affirming the commitment to advancing Metrology initiatives. Congressman Bongalon also expressed his support and commitment to take action as vice chair of the Committee on Appropriations and ensure that resources are allocated to support the proposed NMIPhil Act. On the 2nd day of the event, the public hearing was headed by S&T Committee Chair, Hon. Carlito S. Marquez, and attended by members, Hon. Ron Salo and Hon. Raul Angelo Bongalon. Key officials from the DOST were also present including USec. Sancho A. Maborrang, USec Teodoro M. Gatchalian, DOST-ITDI Director Annabelle V. Briones, DOST VI Director Rowen R. Gelonga, and National Metrology Laboratory Chief Engr. Manuel Ruiz. Hon Ron Salo discussed the salient points of the bill and made minor amendments, ultimately contributing to its refinement. Cong. Carlito successfully concluded the session with the passage of the proposed substitute bill at the Committee on Science and Technology.
